How To Nail Your Next Job Interview
Posted: 11.30.2015If your job search on SeniorCare.Jobs has led to an upcoming interview, then you may be wondering the best steps to prepare. Whether this is your first interview in a long time, or you have had a steady stream while you try to find the right fit—you want to put your best foot forward. Turn to the steps below to do just that.
Personalize Your Resume
You always want to bring a couple of copies of your resume with you to your interview, but if you haven’t already done so, take the time to personalize your resume for the position before you arrive.
Do Your Homework
You were sure to do a bit of research about the company where you are interviewing before you applied, but now is the time to delve in deeper. Learn the company’s history, work your way around the company’s website, and even learn a bit about with whom you will be interviewing.
Practice Makes Perfect
You never know what an employer is going to ask, but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t practice your response. If you have a friend you can role play with, great; if not—practice answering interview questions out loud. To assess your posture and body language, practice in front of a mirror.
Dress To Impress
You never have a second chance to make a first impression, so make sure you dress to impress. Even if you are nurse, medical assistant or CNA who will be required to wear scrubs once you are hired, you still need to look your best. You can’t go wrong with a classic two-piece suit that is fit to perfection. Don’t underestimate your head to toe look—hair style, facial hair, makeup, shoes, and accessories.
Arrive A Bit Early, But Not Too Early
The last thing you want is to be rushed or worried about arriving late, so plan to arrive early. While you don’t want to walk through the door more than 10 or 15 minutes early, you can certainly arrive in the area earlier so that you have time to prepare mentally. Give yourself a 30-minute cushion just in case, then sit in your car or a nearby coffee shop to do the last minute run through of your interview answers.
